The arena of the Colosseum

The arena of the Colosseum was the stage on which various events in ancient Rome were staged. Games, competitions, shows and fights. The arena of the Colosseum is now a reconstruction of the floor on which gladiator fights once took place and allows you to relive an amphitheater full of spectators with your imagination. Skip the line tickets to the Colosseum, including a digital guide.

The Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill

After visiting the Colosseum and the arena it is possible to discover the wonders of the archaeological area of the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill , located not far from the Flavian Amphitheater, after the Arch of Constantine.

In the Roman Forum you can admire the remains of millennia of history, from the monarchical period of the kings of Rome (the Regia, the temple of Vesta) to the republican period (temple of Saturn, basilica Giulia), to the imperial period (temple of Divo Giulio, basilica of Maxentius).

The visit continues on the Palatine Hill , one of the seven hills of Rome, which is located between the Roman Forum and the Circus Maximus. Here we find the remains of houses dating back to the Republican era (Casa dei Glifi under the Domus Flavia, decorated with extraordinary frescoes) belonging to prominent members of the Roman ruling class, from Marco Valerio Massimo to Cicero, to Marco Antonio.
Augustus, in the imperial period, made his residence on the Palatine hill. Since then it became a large complex of buildings and gardens for the use of the emperors, from Tiberius to Nero, from the Flavians to Septimius Severus.
