The main attraction included in this ticket is the ancient city of Pompeii, located near the modern city of Naples in Italy. Pompeii is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most significant archaeological sites in the world, offering a unique glimpse into the life of an ancient Roman city frozen in time by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.
The Forum of Pompeii was the heart of the city’s public life, serving as a bustling hub for commerce, politics, and social gatherings. Visitors can explore the remains of this central square, surrounded by important public buildings and temples. The nearby Amphitheater, one of the oldest surviving Roman amphitheaters, hosted gladiatorial games and other public spectacles. Its well-preserved structure provides insight into the entertainment culture of ancient Rome, allowing visitors to imagine the vibrant atmosphere of the arena during its heyday.
The House of the Vettii is one of Pompeii’s most famous residences, renowned for its exquisite frescoes and opulent design. This luxurious villa belonged to the wealthy Vettii brothers, who were freedmen that achieved great success in business. The house is adorned with vibrant frescoes depicting mythological scenes, offering a window into the artistic and cultural tastes of the Roman elite. Visitors can admire the intricate details of the artwork and explore the various rooms and courtyards that reflect the opulence of Roman domestic life.
One of the most poignant aspects of a visit to Pompeii is the opportunity to see the plaster casts of the victims of the eruption. These casts were created by pouring plaster into the voids left by decomposed bodies in the volcanic ash, capturing the final moments of the inhabitants of Pompeii. The haunting figures serve as a powerful reminder of the human tragedy that unfolded during the eruption and offer a deeply moving connection to the past. Visitors can view these casts and reflect on the personal stories of those who lived and perished in Pompeii.

Sasha was a great tour guide! I really liked him and the gentleman driving our bus. I do wish that the event at Pompeii lasted longer, I would honestly have traded time at the 4 or 5 stops to spend more time at Pompeii. It felt like every stop was a predatory way to lead us into shops that were likely paying you folks to take us there and spend money. I did not enjoy the vibes of being taken to a jewelry shop without any forewarning. Once again I really enjoyed our tour guide, he was funny, intelligent, and sentimental/ respectful of the dead. I just wish the tour company “I <3 Rome" was better. Cheers, hopefully you take this as critical and not derogatory.
