Constructed between AD 70 and 80, the Colosseum is an architectural masterpiece, showcasing the advanced engineering skills of the Roman Empire. Its elliptical structure is composed of concrete and sand, featuring a complex system of vaults and arches that support its immense weight. Visitors will be captivated by the tiered seating arrangement, designed to accommodate over 50,000 spectators. Great quick tour, so much information in a short amount of time. We had to get a train back to the cruise so only had a hour to spend at the colosseum. This fitted us perfectly, guide was very knowledgeable and provided us with a lovely tour.
