Itinerary: Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill

This combined ticket offers a visit to the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill, including an interesting multimedia experience.

1. Multimedia experience

The tour begins with a 25-minute multimedia presentation on ancient Rome at the Tourist office in Piazza d’Aracoueli, 16. It is ideal for immersing yourself in the atmosphere of Ancient Rome before visiting the Colosseum. Here you will be given the free map of the city, useful for starting your exploration of the ruins of Rome.

2. Roman Forum

The Roman Forum represents the second stage of the proposed itinerary. It is the center of life in imperial Rome, where political, economic and religious functions were centralized.

Today the Roman Forum offers an extraordinary panorama of Roman history and architecture, between the 6th and 2nd centuries BC

Among the most interesting monuments we can include the Temple of Saturn , dating back to the early republican age (497 BC), the basilica of Maxentius , started by the homonymous emperor in 308 AD and the Giulia basilica (I century BC), built by Gaius Julius Caesar.

3. Entrance to the Colosseum

The ticket offers priority access to the Colosseum , the third stop on the itinerary. The purchase of a ticket without a guide, if on the one hand it does not allow you to deepen useful details and curiosities, on the other it offers the freedom to explore in a completely autonomous way and to focus on the majesty of this monument.

• Go to the meeting point at the Tourist office, in piazza d’Ara Coeli, 16
• Show employees your ticket in printed form or directly on your smartphone

Additional information

It is important to remember that it is not possible to access the Colosseum with suitcases, trolleys and camping backpacks for safety reasons. The access is equipped with a metal detector in order to check for the presence of metal objects, glass containers, alcoholic beverages and spray cans.
