Discover the Colosseum: Rome’s Iconic Amphitheater

The Colosseum, located in the heart of Rome, is the main attraction included in this ticket. As one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world, it draws millions of visitors each year eager to witness its grandeur and historical significance.

The Architectural Marvel of the Colosseum

The Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheater, is a testament to the architectural prowess of ancient Rome. Constructed in the first century AD, it was the largest amphitheater ever built and could accommodate up to 80,000 spectators. Its elliptical structure, intricate network of vaults, and innovative use of concrete and stone have made it an enduring symbol of Roman engineering. Visitors can explore the various levels of the Colosseum, from the arena floor where gladiators once fought to the upper tiers offering panoramic views of the city.

Unveiling the Roman Forum: The Heart of Ancient Rome

Adjacent to the Colosseum lies the Roman Forum, the epicenter of political, social, and economic life in ancient Rome. This sprawling complex of ruins includes temples, basilicas, and public spaces that once hosted important events and ceremonies. As you wander through the Forum, you’ll encounter iconic structures such as the Temple of Saturn, the Arch of Septimius Severus, and the Curia, where the Roman Senate convened. The Forum’s rich history and well-preserved ruins provide a fascinating glimpse into the daily life and governance of ancient Rome.

Exploring Palatine Hill: A Glimpse into Rome’s Regal Past

Palatine Hill, one of Rome’s legendary seven hills, offers a serene escape from the bustling city below. According to Roman mythology, it was here that Romulus founded the city of Rome. The hill became a desirable residential area for Rome’s elite, with opulent palaces and gardens gracing its slopes. Today, visitors can explore the ruins of the Domus Augustana, the imperial residence of Emperor Augustus, and enjoy sweeping views of the Roman Forum and Circus Maximus. Palatine Hill’s rich history and tranquil setting make it a must-visit for those seeking to understand the grandeur of ancient Rome.

After a great guided tour at the Vatican, we wanted a slower pace for this. It was easy to pick up the tickets for the colosseum. The “guide” was waiting in the exact location he said and was there in between to give us info for palatine hill and Roman forum. Great value and great spots to visit!

Be prepared for an amazing experience. It was very crowded when we were there and getting around was slow. We met with Sak of Dream Tours. He was excellent and explained in clear and concise terms about our entrance details. Unfortunately, the app didn’t work properly so we gave that up!

We couldn’t find the rep at the arch and subsequently weren’t allowed to queue until the correct ticket time. The Colosseum was impressive but we struggled to find our way out. It was a route march.
