Discover the Colosseum: a journey through history

The Colosseum, located in the heart of Rome, stands as a testament to the architectural prowess and cultural significance of ancient Rome. As the largest amphitheater ever constructed, it once served as the epicenter of entertainment, hosting gladiatorial contests and public spectacles that captivated the Roman populace.

The Colosseum’s construction began under Emperor Vespasian in AD 72 and was completed by his successor, Titus, in AD 80. This architectural marvel was designed to hold up to 80,000 spectators, who would gather to witness gladiatorial games, animal hunts, and mock naval battles. The arena floor, accessible with this ticket, offers a glimpse into the world of the gladiators, where they fought for glory and survival. The Colosseum’s intricate design, with its tiered seating and elaborate underground chambers, reflects the ingenuity of Roman engineering.

The Roman Forum: heart of ancient Rome

The Roman Forum, adjacent to the Colosseum, was the political, social, and economic hub of ancient Rome. This rectangular plaza was surrounded by important government buildings, temples, and markets, serving as the center of public life. Visitors can explore the ruins of the Senate House, the Temple of Saturn, and the Arch of Septimius Severus, among other significant structures. The Via Sacra, the main thoroughfare through the Forum, was the route for triumphal processions and religious ceremonies. This ticket allows you to walk the same path as ancient Romans, offering a tangible connection to the past.

Palatine Hill: the birthplace of Rome

Palatine Hill, one of the Seven Hills of Rome, is steeped in myth and history. According to legend, it was here that Romulus founded the city of Rome in 753 BC. The hill became the residence of emperors and aristocrats, with opulent palaces and gardens gracing its slopes. Visitors can explore the ruins of the Flavian Palace, the Stadium of Domitian, and the legendary Hut of Romulus. The vantage point from Palatine Hill offers breathtaking views of the Roman Forum and the city beyond, providing a serene contrast to the bustling streets below.
